Virtual Reality, Real Impact.

We are excited to announce that our signature event — The Livestrong Challenge—is going virtual this year! While we are deeply saddened that we cannot gather with you in downtown Austin, TX, the safety of cancer survivors, participants, volunteers, staff, and the healthcare community is our number one priority. We look forward to a more personal event experience that will be easier than ever to participate from anywhere across the globe.

Livestrong President and CEO Makes a Special Announcement

So what exactly is the Livestrong Virtual Challenge? Great question! Let’s cover the basics:

When?

October 12–18th. Train with us the week of October 12th then join us for a live broadcast + virtual reality cycling experience on Sunday, October 18th.

How?

Register here for free. Fundraise. Earn Prizes. Cycle, walk, run, swim, do yoga, and more. It’s your challenge, your choice.

Oh, and by the way, Livestrong President, Greg Lee, is generously donating $10 to the first 1,000 participants that register & donate $10 or more to their own fundraiser! Hurry before his match runs out!

Who?

Anyone and everyone is invited to participate. Indoor cyclists, outdoor cyclists, runners, walkers, yogis, weight lifters — you can engage in any physical activity or even participate from your couch!

Where?

If you choose to train with us, you can do it anywhere — neighborhood streets to mountain hikes to your home gym.

If you choose to watch the live broadcast on the 18th from home, you can use any device with an internet connection.

Why?

The global pandemic has created challenges that make living with cancer even more difficult for survivors and their families. This year has been tough for our organization, but we are committed to raising $665,000. We must continue to create solutions that improve the lives of people affected by cancer — but we can’t do it without you.

Together, we will overcome. Together, we will Livestrong.

Read our announcement from Livestrong President and CEO Greg Lee in full:

“Every October (for nearly 25 years) thousands of you have come to Austin, TX to participate in the annual Livestrong Challenge. Together, we’ve raised over $580 million and improved the lives of millions of cancer survivors.

Now, more than ever, we need your support.

The Livestrong Challenge is our largest fundraiser, and this year we’ve committed to raising more than $700,000. These funds will play a critical role as we develop innovative solutions to solve the everyday problems faced by cancer survivors. Problems that should not exist, but do……. like finding ways to pay the bills, navigating insurance coverage, or preserving fertility.

2020 continues to present all of us with extraordinary circumstances that we must take very seriously. Due to the global pandemic, we are making the right decision to turn the Livestrong Challenge into a live, virtual event. The safety of our participants, volunteers, staff, and our local community is our number one priority. We must all watch out for each other during these times of uncertainty.

While I will personally miss seeing thousands of your smiling faces this year, I am incredibly excited that our Livestrong Virtual Challenge opens up opportunities for everyone all over the world to participate.

People living outside of our Austin, TX often ask us how they can help. This is how. This Livestrong Virtual Challenge is your opportunity to participate in an inspiring, one-of-a-kind event that directly impacts the care that cancer survivors receive.

Here’s the best part: because we want as many people all over the world to join us during the Livestrong Virtual Challenge, we’re making the event 100% free. This means there is no cost of entry and it’s open to everyone... And we are broadening the event. Whether you ride a bike, run, walk, swim, lift weights, do yoga, or love another type of physical activity, you’re invited to register and participate in this global event.

Our weeklong virtual event will conclude on Sunday, October 18th, with a live cycling event and mission-focused broadcast. Whether you decide to bike just a few miles, a few dozen, or maybe hundreds; your energy, enthusiasm, and generosity will help transform lives

I don’t think we can get 10,000 people to join us this year, but wow! What if they did? What if each and every one of you joined us? That would be awesome! And imagine the tremendous impact and real change we could have in improving the lives of millions of cancer survivors.

I tell you what, I am so pumped up, that I am going to sweeten the deal. Starting today, the first thousand people that register for this free event and make a $10 or more self-donation, I’ll personally make a $10 donation in your honor. This is a small token of my appreciation for the impact you’re making on the cancer community with your participation and fundraising in this Virtual Livestrong Challenge.

On October 18th, join us for the first-ever Livestrong Virtual Challenge.

Together, we will overcome. Together, we will Livestrong.”
