This past weekend Team LIVESTRONG took on the Yuengling Shamrock Marathon Weekend with more than 100 runners and walkers who raised $55,000 for the mission. The team kicked-off the weekend by celebrating their success at an appreciation dinner on the beach Friday night. Three amazing fundraisers were recognized for their hard work and dedication for the mission.
Top Individual Fundraiser – Mary Kate Connors
Top Team Fundraiser – 757alumni
The J&A Racing LIVESTRONG Endowment Honoree – Janita Burgess Hess
Team members enjoyed an expo at the convention center on Friday and Saturday, some were even lucky enough to earn an item at the LIVESTRONG booth and our prize wheel!
Saturday morning runners took on the 8k and were cheered-on by yellow mile volunteers about half a mile from the finish area. Many runners sported Shamrock themed costumes and green running gear.
Sunday saw a return of the yellow mile as volunteers cheered for the half and full marathon runners! In a sea of yellow shirts, ground chalk, cheer signs, pom pom and feather flags – the runners were feeling the LIVESTRONG love! It was especially nice to see Team LIVESTRONG runners come through this section and get special shout-outs.
As runners finished the race they were able to celebrate their success in the huge post-race party tent along the beach. With plenty of beer and St. Patrick’s Day spirit, runners were able to reflect on their accomplishments on race day and the months leading up to the event.
Congratulations to all of the 2014 Yuengling Shamrock Marathon runners, and especially our amazing group of dedicated cancer fights – THANK YOU!
