Two days before Thanksgiving 2011, I got a call from my surgeon saying that I had Hodgkin lymphoma. It was overwhelming trying to figure out everything I needed to do.
With only four days until I started chemo, I learned my treatment could cause infertility. My insurance did not cover fertility preservation, so all of the expenses were going to be out-of-pocket for me.
I contacted the LIVESTRONG Foundation and spoke with a Navigator who made an appointment for me the very next day. She walked me through the process, and LIVESTRONG helped me cover the costs of preserving my fertility for a year.
About a year after I finished treatment, I got engaged to my girlfriend. It gives us great confidence to know that we have the option to have kids in the future, and LIVESTRONG made that possible.
LIVESTRONG is there for you during those moments of uncertainty. They are there to walk with you through your cancer journey and to remind you that you are not alone. By giving today, you can ensure that LIVESTRONG continues offering free, life-changing services to cancer survivors and their families.
I thank you for your support; I know firsthand the impact it can have.
