At LIVESTRONG we understand that navigating the heath care system can be a challenge for cancer patients, survivors and their loved ones. On Tuesday, October 1, 2013, Health Insurance Marketplaces will open as part of the Affordable Care Act’s “Open Enrollment” phase, giving consumers the ability to purchase health insurance plans designed to fit a range of budget and health care needs.
LIVESTRONG is offering several free services to help you understand what this new system means for you:
- On Wednesday, October 2, 2013 from 1 p.m. EST/Noon CST join us for a one hour live Google+ Hangout with LIVESTRONG CEO Doug Ulman, where he will discuss what young people can gain from the ACA and answer your questions on the issue.
- Also on Wednesday, October 2 from from 7-9 EST/6-8 p.m CST we will offer a free class, both online and in-person, to help cancer survivors better understand the Heath Insurance Marketplaces. The course, entitled New Insurance Under Healthcare Reform: Helping Cancer Survivors to Obtain and Maintain Their Health Coverage, will be led by Loyce Pace Bass, the LIVESTRONG Foundation Health Policy Director, and Brendan Bietry, Director of External Relations/Bilingual Case Manager of the Patient Advocate Foundation (PAF). You can attend in-person at LIVESTRONG HQ or stream the class live over the web.
- And for more information on health care reform, download our FREE Affordable Care Act Resource Guide.
