Sharing Your Story with Elected Officials Makes An Impact

During the past few weeks, we have witnessed the results of a number of great LIVESTRONG Foundation interactions with members of Congress and we wanted to share them with you. We believe each example illustrates the importance of sharing our individual stories with elected officials.

On July 17, Rep. Dave Loebsack (D-IA) gave a speech on the House floor about the importance of cancer research funding at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) in response to a request made by LIVESTRONG advocate and constituent, Tina Anderson, during One Voice Against Cancer (OVAC) lobby day.

On July 29, Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) gave a speech on the Senate floor about the importance of cancer research funding and shared the story of long-time LIVESTRONG advocate and supporter Jim Owens. This speech was inspired by Jim’s brother, John, who was advocating on behalf of LIVESTRONG during OVAC lobby day last month.
