I hope you’ve been doing your stretches and eating your Wheaties because the 2013 PHILLY CHALLENGE IS THIS WEEKEND! Are you ready?? If you have a few last minute questions, read on. We’re about to give you all the Philly info you need to make sure the weekend goes as smoothly as possible!
NOT SURE WHERE CHECK-IN AND PACKET PICK UP ARE?
If you’re participating in the 5k, 10k, or ride, you may check in on Friday, August 16 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Montgomery County Community College in the large white Registration Tent (there will be signs and volunteers to help you). If you’re a runner, you may also check in before the event starts from 6:45 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. on Saturday, August 17. Bikers have another opportunity to check in on Saturday August 17 from 8:3 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. and Sunday, August 18 from 6:15 a.m. to 7:00 a.m. If you are picking up for 5 or more people, you can come to Team Packet Pick-up. Just make sure you have everyone’s t-shirt sizes and that everyone who is riding has met their $250 fundraising minimum!
WHO’S GOING TO HOLD YOUR BAG WHILE YOU’RE ON THE ROAD?
Funny you ask – we’ll actually have a Bag Check tent to leave your belongings while you’re running, walking, or biking! Bag Check will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 17 for runners and from 6:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 18 for bikers. The Bag Check tent will be located near the check-in area.
WHAT KINDS OF THINGS ARE THERE FOR THE KIDDOS?
The Kid Zone will be open from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday and 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday and will have face painting (Sat. 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. and Sun. 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.) and a bouncy house. Sounds like a party to me! With food, live music, face painting, AND a bouncy house, this weekend is sure to be a blast for the whole family!
WHAT ABOUT STUFF TO DO FOR THE GROWN-UPS?
As much as I would love to say there’s a huge bouncy house and face painting for the parents too, the grown-ups will instead get to enjoy the Team Lawn, a Beer Tent, Live Music (from none other than the amazing Diablo Sandwich Band), food, vendors, lots of cheering at the Finish Line, and even a massage tent (Sat. 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.and Sun. 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.) to loosen up some sore spots!
I hope we answered some questions you might have had about the weekend. Make sure you check out the website for information on bicycle safety, 10K/5K courses, ride courses, the venue map, staging, and the weekend schedule. We sure are getting excited for the event and can’t wait to see everybody out there in just a few short days! There will be lots of fun things to do for all ages, so bring along the family and friends and let’s celebrate life together!
