In February of 2014, Survivor Summit, in partnership with the LIVESTRONG Foundation, will lead an expedition to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. At 19,341 feet, Mount Kilimanjaro not only represents the highest peak in Africa, but the tallest free-standing Mountain in the world.
Leading the expedition is Chris Warner, a world renowned mountaineer who has reached the summit of Everest and K2, along with leading nearly 200 expeditions. In 2012, Chris led the first Survivor Summit expedition to Kilimanjaro. Seventeen individuals from around the world came together to form a team, share their cancer journeys, inspire, be inspired, and ultimately, summit Mt. Kilimanjaro. You can read more about the inaugural trip here, or watch the video here.
While prior climbing experience is not required, future teammates will need a basic level of physical fitness, the willingness to train, and the ability to endure challenging conditions. Perhaps most importantly, future teammates must be open to embarking on a life changing journey.
We hope you will join us in 2014!
