It’s finally here! The 2013 LIVESTRONG Austin Marathon is this weekend and there is so many cool things going on. Below is a 411 of the weekend’s events for all you runners and cheering fans.
The Marathon Expo and Packet Pick-Up:
All participants are required to pick up their race packet at the Health and Fitness Expo located at the Palmer Events Center in downtown Austin. The expo will be open today, Friday from 3:00pm-7:00pm and Saturday from 10:00am-6:00pm.
Where do I get snazzy LIVESTRONG and LIVESTRONG Austin Marathon gear?
Gear will be on sale at the expo Friday and Saturday near the entrance of Palmer events Center and at the race on Sunday. Look for the trailer on Sunday at the Event Festival off of Congress between 6th and 7th street.
Where do I park on Sunday?
Parking in the downtown area within walking distance of the start and finish-lines is plentiful. There are numerous free and paid parking garages and surface lots as well as free on-street parking downtown. $7 parking will also be available at the Palmer Events Center. Due to road closures, access will be limited between 6:00 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Therefore, plan to arrive at the garage before 5:30 a.m.
When do I need to show up?
We recommend you arrive no later than 6am. The half and full marathon start at 7am, the 5k at 7:30am.
Where is the Start Line?
The Start Line of the LIVESTRONG Austin Marathon and Half Marathon is located at 16th Street and Congress Avenue. Start time for both the Austin Marathon and the Austin Half Marathon is at 7:00am CST.
I’m Moral Support. Where Can I Prove My Cheering Prowess?
Welcome all you cheerleaders! There are several key places throughout the race where you can cheer on your friends and family. Join us at mile 9 – the “Yellow Mile” off of Cesar Chavez just west of the Lamar Street Bridge. Wear yellow and BYOCB- Bring Your Own Cow Bell. Look for more yellow at Water Stop #1. Foundation staff and volunteers will be helping you stay hydrated as you get into your running groove.
