Today, we announced the appointments of Candice Toll Aaron and Jeremiah Robins to our Board of Directors, as well as the election of the 2013 executive committee officers. We are proud to welcome our new directors. Candice and Jere have a deep devotion to serving people affected by cancer, as well as a wealth of experience that will be vital to the Foundation in the years ahead. We’re grateful for their service and look forward to their guidance in strengthening and expanding the LIVESTRONG Foundation’s mission.
Aaron is a survivor of papillary thyroid cancer, a founding member and current chair of the LIVESTRONG Young Leader’s Cancer Council and a member of the LIVESTRONG Foundation’s President’s Circle. Aaron is a lawyer with significant experience in corporate governance and currently serves as a compliance leader at GE Capital. Before joining GE, she practiced law in New York, Pennsylvania and Delaware at the law firm Saul Ewing, LLP, where she was a partner chairing several management committees. The Michigan native reached the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro in 2006, the same year as her cancer diagnosis. She graduated from the University of Michigan and received a law degree from the University of Pennsylvania.
Robins, who lost his first wife Stephanie to cancer, has a long-standing devotion to philanthropic causes. He is the chairman and CEO of Great Pond Management Company, LLC (GPMC), a U.S.-based private equity firm specializing in the acquisition and redevelopment of underperforming manufacturing companies. In addition to his work there, Robins is chairman and CEO of Rotation Dynamics Corporation, a multinational manufacturer of consumables. He splits his time between San Diego and Shanghai with his wife, Cassidy, and their twins.
Jeff Garvey will lead the executive committee officers in 2013, supported by Mike Sherwin, vice chairman; Dr. Amelie Ramirez, treasurer; and Blaine Rollins, secretary. Dr. David Johnson and Joe Aragona were also elected as members of the executive committee.
