Austin Volunteers Needed for New Transportation Program

Transportation to and from cancer appointments is a common concern of cancer patients in the Austin area. We believe it should not be a barrier to fighting or coping with cancer. To address this major concern, we are launching a new program to help clients at our Austin LIVESTRONG Navigation Center and we need volunteers. The Foundation is teaming up with a local nonprofit called Faith in Action Caregivers to launch a volunteer-based transportation program for cancer patients in the Austin area.

The LIVESTRONG Cancer Transportation Program will provide free transportation to cancer-related appointments in the Austin area to those in need. Passionate individuals are essential to making this program a success. Volunteer drivers are needed to ensure that cancer patients make it to both medical and non-medical cancer-related appointments. And when you volunteer is up to you—an easy online system makes choosing your volunteer assignments simple.

If you live in or commute to the Austin area and would like to make a difference in a cancer patient’s life, please complete the application. All drivers must have a valid driver license, current automobile insurance meeting Texas state liability minimums and a safe, reliable vehicle. Applicants will be offered volunteer training/orientation, then a criminal background and driving record check will be done to confirm program eligibility.

We hope you will join us as we launch this much needed program in the Austin community. Volunteer today.
