Luke the Bike Man’s 5 Line Ride

The following is a message from Team LIVESTRONG Challenge Austin participant, Luke Neafus. (@LuketheBikeMan on Twitter). Last year Luke picked a fight with cancer and raised $10,000 for LIVESTRONG! Not bad for a 13 year old, right? Well, this year he’s doubling down…That’s right: He’s going to raise $20,000 for the fight against cancer! Join Luke at the Austin Challenge or at his 5 Line Bike Ride in Oklahoma this weekend.

This is a very important charity to me because I lost my grandfather, Poppy, to prostate cancer in 2007. My Poppy was an awesome granddad, father, husband, friend, golfer and one of my bestest buddies. It was the saddest day of my life when he passed away. I put on my yellow LIVESTRONG bracelet and have never taken it off. I want to raise money to HELP STOP CANCER! I don’t want anybody else to lose someone they love. If we all pull together we can be sure others get the help they need. You never know when it could be YOU who needs the help! Please come ride or at least donate to my fundraising efforts so we can put an end to this horrible disease! I will add your loved ones name to my Tribute Wall (below) with a donation of $5-$5,000!

Riders will start in the shadow of the highest point in Oklahoma at 4,973 feet and there are four ride options:
Family Fun Ride-20 miles
3-Line – 40 miles (Crossing CO, NM, OK state lines)
4-Line – 95 miles (Crossing CO, NM, OK & TX state lines)
Or the BIG DADDY
5-Line – 120 miles (Crossing CO, NM, OK, TX & KS state lines)

No matter what distance you choose it will be the ride of a lifetime while helping those 28 million living with cancer! There will be live music on Saturday night, presented by The Dizzy Pickers, and the darkest skies in the Southwest for stargazing. There aren’t any Hiltons in the panhandle of Oklahoma, so riders will receive complimentary 2 nights of co-ed cabin lodging at Camp Billy Joe. Cabins generously provided by the Whitten-Newman Family Foundation.
