Have you ever worked to achieve something for 6 months? If so, you know that it’s an arduous journey full of highs and lows, but as you approach your goal, the sense of accomplishment becomes overwhelming and you remember why you had the passion to set out on the journey to begin with.
This weekend 235 Team LIVESTRONG runners will take on the Bank of America Chicago Marathon. For some it is their first marathon. Others are alumni of not only the sport, but of fundraising with Team LIVESTRONG. We’ve got cancer survivors, care givers, people who have lost someone, and people who are coming out to prove cancer will not stifle their drive for life.
Together, they have raised over $220,000 for LIVESTRONG programs and services and together they will take to the streets to show Chicago just how powerful the LIVESTRONG community can be.
I’m so proud of what these athletes have been able to accomplish that crossing the finish line will just be icing on the cake. If you’d like to celebrate their accomplishment and wish them luck, please consider donating or joining us on the streets of Chicago at our Cheer Stop. We’ll be on Adams Street near Whitney Young High School at Mile 14. We’ll be dressed in yellow, cowbells in hand, to cheer home all of our Team LIVESTRONG runners. Come with cheer signs and noise makers from 7am – 12pm.
Go TEAM LIVESTRONG!
