LIVESTRONG Headquarters is buzzing with activity in preparation of the busiest week in our 15-year history. During the week of October 15-21st we are hosting a forum on patient-centered care and the role big data will play in future research, our 15th Anniversary star-studded Gala complete with food from internationally recognized chefs and performances by Grammy award winners, an awareness event at the University of Texas football game, a fundraiser appreciation celebration and what we hope to be the largest bike ride in downtown Austin history. Needless to say, we are working feverishly on all the details and want you to know all the information necessary for the week.

REV is an intimate, one-day forum co-presented by LIVESTRONG and Genentech, featuring outstanding speakers presenting big ideas to a select audience. The goal is to create a unique information and idea exchange that accelerates collaborative efforts, unconventional thinking, and innovative solutions. REV will be more than just talk; it will be a catalyst for action among like-minded and not-so-like-minded people united by a shared truth: that we can and must improve the lives of people affected by cancer.

Special guests include: Lance Armstrong, Maria Shriver, Ben Stiller, Sean Penn. Live entertainment will be presented by Robin Williams, Norah Jones and Stephen Marley and a menu from Top Chef’s Richard Blais, Antonia Lofaso, Angelo Sosa and Austin’s own Paul Qui. Art Icon, Mister Cartoon, will create an art instillation live at the event and will be available in the auction along with works by Ed Ruscha, Dustin Yellin and Patrick Martinez.

This home game serves as the University of Texas’ Cancer Awareness Game to show support for the more than 100,000 Texans who are diagnosed with cancer each year. Along with our partners at Nike, the Foundation will be activating at this game with informational booths inside the stadium, a wristband giveaway, special activation with the student section and an on-field presentation with special guests.

Ride for the Roses Weekend is a long-standing LIVESTRONG tradition that celebrates and thanks our most dedicated fundraisers. Held in conjunction with the Team LIVESTRONG Challenge Austin, the weekend offers supporters the opportunity to meet each other, LIVESTRONG staff and board members at unique, invitation-only events. You must qualify for Ride for the Roses by fundraising a minimum $10,000 from a Team LIVESTRONG event by Friday, September 28 by 5 p.m. CT. Join us as we aim to make this year’s event a monumental cycling experience for LIVESTRONG. Our goal is to have over 4,000 cyclists raise $2 million to support our programs and services. Cyclists can choose from distances ranging from 18–100 miles, based on their experience and fitness level. A $50 registration fee will apply for all riders. Keeping with the tradition of all Team LIVESTRONG Challenge events, we will be hosting a fantastic post-event party for riders and spectators complete with local food vendors, Team LIVESTRONG sponsors and an activity area for kids.
