It’s National Nurses Week and LIVESTRONG honors the men and women that make your medical treatment bearable, your nurses. Have you had an exceptional nurse during treatment? There’s usually at least one that you remember. For Lance, it was his nurse Latrice Haney his nurse at Indiana University. In 2010 he honored her by riding in her honor during the Tour of California.
At LIVESTRONG, we honor nurses every day by offering free continuing education classes. Here are the course descriptions:
Focus Under Forty CME Courses:
The American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and LIVESTRONG have created Focus Under Forty, an education curriculum for health care professionals including oncologists, primary care physicians and mid-level providers. These courses have been designed to build awareness of and provide training to address the challenges of treating adolescent and young adult patients with cancer. Cancer is the leading cause of death due to disease for those between the ages of 15–39. While much progress has been made in the fields of cancer prevention, diagnosis and treatment, survival rates in adolescents and young adults have not improved in more than 30 years.
Latinos and Cancer: A Focus on Awareness and Prevention
The goal of this Latinos and cancer CE program is to discuss disparities in cancer incidence and survival among Latinos and Latino subgroups and to provide culturally based interventions with the potential to improve cancer screening and prevention in Latino populations.
Men and Cancer:
The purpose of this program is to provide healthcare professionals with information about cancer that occur more frequently in men.
