When Lance Armstrong was racing bikes professionally, it was possible to train like him and follow along with his team’s racing throughout the year. But now he’s transitioned to triathlon everyone has the opportunity to not only log the training time, but to also actually race right there with him on Team LIVESTRONG! Your next opportunity? The Memorial Hermann Ironman 70.3 held on Galveston Island, Texas, April 1, 2012.
Now it probably wouldn’t be too realistic to start your half Ironman training today, just one month out from the race start. But maybe you’ve been training for another event, and you can roll this one into your build up plan. Or you’ve already got a spot for this race, and we’d love to have you on our team. There’s still plenty of time to join the 26 current athletes for Team LIVESTRONG who have already raised nearly $12,000 for the fight against cancer (and THANK YOU!). Why are these athletes lining up with Lance? Here’s just a few of their reasons:
As with any team there are roles and responsibilities. For Team LIVESTRONG athletes, it’s a commitment to train and race as well as to help raise funds to support the LIVESTRONG mission of providing direct services to people affected by cancer, and providing a platform for advocacy in the fight against this disease. For those without a race entry, you’ll raise at least $600 and get a guaranteed race entry plus a Team LIVESTRONG tri top, hat and race belt. If you’ve already secured a race entry, the minimum is $400 and you’ll get the team gear to race in. We also have some other cool surprises, but you have to be part of the team to get the inside word on that…
Lance threw down an amazing first start at IronMan Panama 70.3, racing for Team LIVESTRONG and coming in second place to no less than two-time Olympic medalist Bevan Docherty. The entire triathlon world will be focused on Texas to see just how well he’ll do in his next showing. We want you to be a part of our team, racing to be your best and helping the 28M people around the world living with cancer. Are you up for the challenge? We sincerely hope so – learn more at www.TeamLIVESTRONG.org.
