Nike Celebrates 15 Years of LIVESTRONG

On January 9, 1997, the Lance Armstrong Foundation officially began. Fifteen years ago, we received our Certificate of Incorporation from the State of Texas and as they say, the rest is history.
To help mark this momentous occasion, on Monday our friends at Nike held a 15th Anniversary celebration at Nike World Headquarters in Beaverton, Oregon for Nike employees and friends of LIVESTRONG. Nike has been a long-time supporter of Lance and the Foundation, committing to Lance as an athlete and advocate in 1995, launching the iconic yellow LIVESTRONG wristband, and our partnership continues to grow as we work together to help inspire people affected by cancer with the Nike LIVESTRONG Collection.
On Monday, Nike also announced a major milestone in our partnership – since 2004, via the LIVESTRONG wristband, the 10//2 Collection and the Nike LIVESTRONG Collection, Nike has helped the Foundation raise more than $100 million for the fight against cancer. Long-time friends of the Foundation and Nike athletes, Joan Benoit Samuelson and Hicham El Guerrouj, were joined by the newest members of Nike Team LIVESTRONG, Julian Wilson, Tessa Bonhomme and Larry Fitzgerald, to celebrate this amazing moment.

We are eternally grateful to our partners at Nike for their years of collaboration, passion for the cancer fight and their commitment to transforming people’s lives. They have helped us make an enormous impact on millions of individuals around the world. Our work has only just begun and we look forward to 15 more years of collective action and social innovation.
