Break Cancer Today

This year over 70,000 young adults ages 15-40 will be diagnosed with cancer. Survivorship rates have increased in pediatric patients and adults over 40, but for the young adult population survivorship rates have not increased since 1975. We need to fix this. To raise awareness for this population, the LIVESTRONG Young Adult Alliance has come up with a edgy, irreverent and fantastic campaign called “Break Cancer”.

Break Cancer is a campaign that brings the Young Adult Alliance together with Universal Record Data Base (URDB). URDB is like Guinness Book of World Records meets Facebook. URDB believes every person on earth has potential to be the world’s best ‘something’. URDB’s mission is to become the database where all such achievements will live. We are asking everyone to break records to raise awareness for the young adult cancer population.

Below are some examples of records that have already been broken on Break Cancer.

Most number of people to say “Beat Cancer in Chinese”

Most People To Shave Their Heads In Solidarity With People Battling Cancer

You too can break a record! Go to www.urdb.org/breakcancer and break one today.

PRAY. TYLER AND HIS BROTHER DESERVE A GREAT CHRISTMAS!by Sherry Walker on Saturday, November 13, 2010 at 11:16am

10 year old boy, Tyler and his brother sure deserve a GREAT CHRISTMAS

by Cynthiana Mead on Thursday, November 11, 2010 at 6:56pm

    ?

Tyler is a 10 year old boy that has had 44 surgeries in 8 years due to cancer of his jaw. He also will need many surgeries for the remainder of his life. I found this story about Tyler a year ago and adopted him to my prayer circle so we can pray and send healing love to him, follow his care and write to him. He has two pages

Tyler now must go to the University of Maryland for his surgeries and the family lives in S Carolina. As you can imagine, all these surgeries and the trips out of state for them, the expenses of staying with Tyler during these surgeries and the gas to get there is very hard. The family will get one surgery paid for, then turn around and save for the next surgery.

Tyler has asked for something this year for Christmas that is too expensive for the family, but well deserved for Tyler. His wish is to have a flat screen TV in his room so he can watch TV and play his games while recuperating from his surgeries. His next planned surgery is in March.

Sherry, my helper and best friend in the world is helping get the word out to find someone willing to buy this TV for Tyler. Tyler also has two brothers that go without a lot of things as well. None of these children ask for much, they all know how hard it is to pay for the surgeries. We would love even more to be able to give all the boys a nice Christmas this year. There is a possibility that someone will provide the TV. But I wish to make sure he gets one, so until we are sure of that he has one, we want to keep that option open. If you can only get a toy for each child or want to give them the whole Christmas – whatever you can or wish to do will help. I am working with Tyler?s Nanny Darlene to get a list together. If you cannot help out with toys, please say a prayer for Tyler from time to time.

Thank you for reading and God Bless -

Can you help us give Tyler the Christmas he deserves? If not, could you please pray for them, and pass this along to someone who can.
    Thank you for reading this.
God Bless You and the Work You Do!
