Winner of the Lance in France Contest

The U.S. Soccer team is not the only winner today! Congratulations to Jim Wood, the winner of the Tour de France contest. Jim and his wife Foncine will head to Paris for a 5 day vacation, where they will stay in a beautiful apartment home provided by longtime LIVESTRONG supporters, Homeaway.com.

Jim became involved with LIVESTRONG after his diagnosis with prostate cancer in 2004. He turned to LIVESTRONG for information, inspiration and support. As an active cyclist prior to diagnosis, Jim worried that he may not be able to get back on the bike. After reading Lance?s story, Jim resolved that if Lance could do it, then so could he! To celebrate the end of Jim?s treatments, he and Foncine went on a bike tour ? Jim was back on the bike, too.

Jim and Foncine have remained involved with LIVESTRONG through the years, and again found LIVESTRONG.org to be a useful and critical resource when Foncine was diagnosed with uterine cancer last year. She has just finished her final radiation treatment last week, so this vacation couldn?t have come at a better time!

The photo below is of the Woods? coffee table. On the table there are two framed images, one of Jim and Foncine, and the other of a card that Jim?s son sent him during the middle of his cancer treatments. The card, according to Jim, ?is so inspiring that I framed it. It sits on my coffee table where I can read it every day.?
