Seattle, Here We Come
by Dylan Trakas (LIVESTRONG Staff)3 Comments
Over the past 13 years, the LIVESTRONG Challenge Series has raised more than $60 million for the fight against cancer while uniting thousands of individuals who have all been affected by the disease in some way or another. This weekend, Team LIVESTRONG is looking forward to carrying that tradition on as we head to the Pacific Northwest for the second annual LIVESTRONG Challenge Seattle.
As the first Challenge event of the 2010 Series, Seattle is poised to make an indelible impact in the fight. About 3,000 participants, volunteers, and staff will descend upon the Seattle Center and surrounding grounds to take part in the event this weekend. But don?t worry, there?s still time to register. If you think you?d be up for taking on a century or bringing your family out to participate in the 5K run/walk, come down and find us at the Fisher Pavilion from 9 am-5 pm on Saturday. Additionally, your participation will grant you the opportunity to ride among some of our distinguished guests, which include participants like Sex and the City star, Evan Handler; former Mariner and hometown favorite, Dan Wilson; cycling juggernaut and LIVESTRONG enthusiast, John Korioth; as well as our very own President and CEO, Doug Ulman.
For the first time, thanks to the generous support of our sponsors, this year we?re proud to announce that 100% of every dollar generated through the LIVESTRONG Challenge Series will be allocated to fund the programs and policy initiatives we have in place to support cancer survivors and their families. This means that your donation will now go farther than ever. We?ve almost reached our goal, and as our participants are working hard to reach their own goals, keep in mind that it?s not too late to contribute. If you?re unable to join us this weekend, consider donating to a friend or family member who is. You can search a complete list of all of Seattle participants by clicking on the ?Donate? button at http://seattle2010.livestrong.org.
