AUSTIN!!! It?s that time again, time for the LIVESTRONG Challenge. We?ve got more than 7,000 registered participants and more than 800 volunteers set to go this weekend, and we can?t wait! This is the biggest event of the 2009 Challenge series and there?s a lot going on. We?re holding registration packet pickup today from noon until 7 pm at the Austin Convention Center. That will be followed by a special appreciation dinner for our top fundraisers.
On Saturday morning, we kick it off bright and early with our 5K walk/run in downtown Austin. Go ahead and come on out to cheer on your friends and family as they complete the course around 9:00 am. We?ll be there, literally, with our bells on; you won?t be able to miss us. Then, we have a few more hours of registration packet pickup at the Convention Center, 9-1pm to be exact.
But Sunday is when it really comes together, as 3,500 cyclists line up in Dripping Springs to ride courses that range in distance from 10 to 90 miles. These riders have come from all over the country, nay, the world, to participate in this event. The forecast is beautiful for the entire weekend, and you?re more than welcome to come join us for any of the events that we have going on. Extra hands are always a plus, so if you feel like coming to help out for a bit, we?d love to have you. We?ll even give you a t-shirt.
Thanks in advance for your hospitality, Austin, and we?ll see you this weekend.
