The football game between the Minnesota Vikings and Greenbay Packers last night was excellent (don’t worry, no spoilers here), but what drew my attention more than the hype around Brett Favre and his old team was the ever present color of pink.
As part of the NFL’s campaign in support of the fight against breast cancer and National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the players, coaches and officials are donning pink cleats, pink hats and pink coins for the coin toss. The month-long campaign called The Crucial Catch is to raise awareness of the importance of mammography and early detection in breast cancer.
Every year 200,000 Americans are diagnosed with breast cancer. It affects one out of every eight women. Early detection saves lives. Thank you to the NFL for making breast cancer a priority this October and thanks to the Vikings and Packers for the awesome game.
