LIVESTRONG Day at the Des Moines YMCA

We have been receiving some really great LIVESTRONG Day event registrations. Below are two events that will be hosted by our LIVESTRONG Army Des Moines and the YMCA of Greater Des Moines. If you are in the area, please check them out! Don’t forget to register your LIVESTRONG Day event ASAP! We are looking for 1,000 local events registered worldwide by October 2nd.
Friday, October 2nd: 2:00pm ? 4:00pm:
LIVESTRONG Army Des Moines is hosting an exclusive reception and cooking demonstration. Chef Tre Wilcox, best known for his appearances on Bravo Network?s Top Chef and Food Network?s Iron Chef shows, Chef Wilcox will prepare several tapas, served with a special tea pairing. Invitees are LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program participants and staff and Des Moines LIVESTRONG ARMY board members. This event will be a celebration of survivorship and a time for folks to have a special treat and fellowship while celebrating with others who are in the fight with them.
Saturday, October 3rd: 9:00am ? 12:00pm
Join the Des Moines LIVESTRONG Army, the Mercy Cancer Center, and the YMCA Healthy Living Center. There will be educational classes offered by staff at the Cancer Center on nutrition for cancer survivors, several demo group exercise classes in our 3 studios, and chair massages all in the facility. Outside is where most of the activity will happen, including two bounce houses for the kids, tethered hot air balloon rides, several carnival games, a large spin class led by volunteers, booths from several organizations helping put the event together.
