What are YOU Doing on October 2nd?

by

October 2nd 1996 is the day Lance was diagnosed with stage 3 testicular cancer and began the fight of his life. This year on October 2, we celebrate LIVESTRONG Day. It?s the day members of our community celebrate the spirit of LIVESTRONG by organizing hundreds of events and raising awareness about the fight against cancer in communities across the globe.

LIVESTRONG Day is critically important this year ? and we need you to step up and help. We’re making a major push to world leaders this fall, urging them to close the huge gap in global cancer funding. By joining an international wave of coordinated grassroots activity on LIVESTRONG Day you can make world leaders and the media sit up and pay attention to this disease while educating your own community about the fight against cancer.

450 people just like you have already signed up to host an event on LIVESTRONG Day ? but we need more. If we can get 1,000 local events, we can dramatically show world leaders that cancer touches every corner of the world.

Will you host an event in your community? We make it easy to choose an event, register it and tell all your friends.

Hosting an event can seem daunting. But being a part of LIVESTRONG Day is simple. You can host any type of event you want, whether it?s a bake sale or a bike ride, fundraising in your neighborhood or getting your co-workers to wear yellow. And you can use our tools to create the event online and invite your friends, families, and neighbors with a few simple clicks. You?ll be amazed by the response ? and RSVPs! – you get from the rest of the LIVESTRONG community.Register your event today!.

By hosting an event on LIVESTRONG Day, you can help your friends and neighbors understand that fighting cancer isn?t just up to doctors and researchers ? it?s up to all of us. And when I meet these world leaders, I?ll point to these 1,000 community events as proof that there?s a movement ready to push for a commitment in every corner of the globe. Please take a minute to add your event – large or small – to the cause.

For a fee of $18, bakers and cooks (professional and just-for-fun) will bring their best “Taste of Yellow” treats to be photographed, sampled and judged for a prize!

Getting friends, family and coworkers to wear yellow to support the fight against cancer. Posting liveSTRONG articles at work and getting the word out to all men over forty to get a PSA test and prostate exam. Prostate cancer is showing up in guys as early as forty. I was 49 years old when I was told that I had this cancer, after surgery PSA numbers started to go up and I was told the cancer is somwhere in the bone but never give up,fight the fight! liveSTRONG!!!

We have declared EVERY Friday “Fight-Like-a-Girl-Friday” to show our love & support for our friend while she undergoes treatment for Ovarian Cancer.

So, as it happens, this October 2nd we’ll be sporting our “Fight Like A Girl” T-Shirts & spreading awareness while we support our girl!

She has shown me that “LiveSTRONG” is more than a color, it’s a mission…it’s a mindset…and that it’s time for a cure!

We will also be attending this event in NJ for anyone who is interested:
