LIVESTRONG at the Giro

by

Lance and the Astana boys have been busy racing their way through the Italian countryside – spreading the LIVESTRONG message and making everyone aware of the Foundation?s commitment to the global fight against cancer.
But as they say ? it takes a village?.

We have an entire team on the ground, thanks to our good friends at Nike, who are helping us spread the LIVESTRONG message at a grassroots level. Yellow has infiltrated the streets of the Giro, thanks to street teamers passing out wristbands, cheer cards and chalk, encouraging the masses to take to the streets to add their messages of hope and inspiration for the global cancer fight.

Along with our grassroots efforts, Ambrogio, an Italian street artist, has created large-scale chalk installations at various stages of the Giro. We want anyone, anywhere to use their talents and abilities to fight cancer. So whether you can ride a bike, paint a picture, or anything in between ? it takes all of us being involved to make a difference.

The passion and excitement from all of those in Italy has been overwhelming. It?s thrilling to see our message translate from Australia, to California and now to Italy. Our message is being heard loud and clear, and it?s thanks to all those on the ground who are making the difference.

P.S. We have to say a special thank you to HomeAway.com. This amazing company provided the LAF with an apartment in Venice which served as our planning headquarters for the Giro. From all of us at LAF and Nike LIVESTRONG ? thank you!! Thank you, HomeAway.com and thank you Alfonso who manages the property.

Love that the message is going global – people all over the world having the opportunity to benefit from the work of the LAF is an enormous gift. I couldn’t have gotten through my fight without ya’ll!! Congratulations!

This is terrific and great inspiration to see people of all walks of life taking the Livestrong message and carrying it forward. How about the creation of a Livestrong Torch, similar to that of the Olympic torch?

JUST WANTED TO WISH LANCE ALL THE BEST IN THE GIRO.I HAVE FOLLOWED HIS PROGRESS THROUGHOUT AND HE NEVER CEASES TO AMAZE ME.I HAVE NOTHING BUT ADMIRATION FOR HIM. TO HAVE COME THROUGH ALL THAT HE HAS HAD TO ENDURE OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS AND STILL DELIVER SUCH AN OUTSTANDING AND PROFESIONAL PERFORMANCE IS BEYOND BELIEF.LANCE IS SHOWING THAT HE IS STILL WITHOUT DOUBT ONE OF THE STRONGEST NAMES IN CYCLE RACING DESPITE HAVING RECENTLY BEEN OUT OF ACTION WITH A COLLAR BONE INJURY. GOOD LUCK LANCE AND REMEMBER YOU DONT HAVE TO COME FIRST IN A RACE TO BE A WINNER.
