Last night under a beautiful spring New York sky, our very own CEO Doug Ulman was honored by Echoing Green at their annual Be Bold Cocktail event. Doug was an Echoing Green fellow many years ago when he began the Ulman Cancer Fund for Young Adults. Echoing Green has an incredibly rich history of supporting social entrepreneurs like Doug who see a gap and spend their time and energy to fill the void. Special thanks to Cheryl Dorsey and the rest of the EG staff for making the LAF contingent feel right at home.
The evening kicked off in style as a small group of LAF friends, family, and supporters gathered to raise a glass to Doug. Bertran Sosa from MPower Labs hosted the event and introduced Dr. Harold Freeman to toast Doug. Dr. Freeman is an amazing person and spoke at length about how his own father succumbed to testicular cancer more than 30 years ago. He also spoke fondly about his relationship with Doug and his unwavering commitment to the worldwide cancer community.
At the Prince George Ballroom, Doug was joined in being honored by businessman Bill Ackman and musician Amos Lee – both philanthropic pioneers in their own right. 400+ gathered to hear stories about how each of these men are making differences in peoples lives around the globe. It was an amazing evening and Doug was humbled by the award and touched to be joined by so many close friends and family. Congratulations to Doug for a well-deserved award – the LAF is lucky to have him and we will look forward to many more nights like last night.
