Today kicks-off National Young Adult Cancer Awareness Week (NYACAW), April 5-11, 2009. DID YOU KNOW that 70,000 young adults, between the ages of 15-39, are diagnosed with cancer each year? AND, that cancer is the leading disease killer among 20-39 year olds? AND, that survival rates for young adults have NOT increased since 1975? Young Adults are more likely to have a delay in diagnosis. We don?t like it ONE bit! And, if you?re a young adult reading this, you probably don?t like it either!
The LAF and 110 other GREAT organizations have teamed together to form the LIVESTRONG YOUNG ADULT ALLIANCE. Together, our goal is to improve survival rates and quality of life for young adults with cancer. To learn more about the Alliance, please go to our website
