Open Roads

by

At the Amgen Tour of California, our friends at Nike handed out packets of yellow chalk to fans with one ask; write notes of support on the pavement. Many wrote Lance well wishes, but many more wrote tributes to people that are living with, have beaten or have lost their life to cancer. This unique show of grassroots support has now been taken to a new level. Nike has decided to continue to hand out the packets of chalk at each of Lance’s races this year and has dubbed the project “Open Roads”. This is a new way everyone can show support for those they love affected by cancer.

Bill Strickland wrote a blog for Bicyling Magazine about his experience of Open Roads at the Amgen Tour of California. Great article!

If you would like to submit a photo of your Open Roads chalk drawing, please do so at Nike’s LIVESTRONG site

    Loved the chalk! Thank you.

Great idea! Unfortunately, they didn’t do this in Santa Rosa during the TOC (too much rain?). Hopefully, next year they will.

And even though I followed the tour, attended Stage One, and am a cancer patient, I heard nothing about this until now. C’mon, Nike, get the word out!
