You Say You Made a Resolution?

by

Welcome 2009! The new year abounds with energy and new hopes for our future at the LAF. Our new world headquarters opens in a few weeks, Lance returns to cycling, LIVESTRONG Challenge opens in Seattle and our global innitiative gets underway. We have our plates full and apreciate all of your support!

Recently,I took the position as the new Online Community Evangelist for the foundation. Fun title, huh? It’s also a fitting one. For the last 5 years I have worked to further the mission of the LAF and can’t wait to continue that through social media platforms in 2009. I recently asked our Twitter followers “What is your New Year’s Resolution?”. We got some great responses. Here are just a few:

Wlico72: Stay healthy and do all I can for my daughter.

CancerVoicesSA: to meet Lance at the Tour Down Under and help drive his Global Cancer Initiative in OZ check us out www.cancervoicessa.org.au

Conleysarah: music city 1/2 marathon in april! cancer got in the way last year…but not this year!

Jollee: Resolutions – Turn 40, stay healthy, be a great husband and father, race my bike and vacation in Austin!

Barbaraitaly: My resolution for the new year is to return to normal life: work, to ride my bike, etc …

Ryanntm: My New Year’s Resolution is to do half an IronMan.

Jensinger: My resolution? To get my radiation tatts removed. I don’t imagine that you do that at Captain Jack’s Tattoo Parlor, do you?

Jamesashberry: To get down to 182lbs. Started at 312lbs, currently at 258lbs!

Scottjoy: My new year’s resolutions: to grow the LIVESTRONG Army New Hampshire Seacoast.

Kendurbin: To be ready for the LiveSTRONG challenge in Philly.

Stephrose: mine: to look at 2009 as a second chance at LIFE and live healthier, not taking things for granted

Then a funny thing happened. Someone asked what the LAF’ resolves to do in 2009. So many things to say. How do we put all the goals in ’09 in 140 characters? Is it even possible? I took a shot.

LIVESTRONG: To find new and innovative ways to help survivors deal with cancer thru advocacy and direct support locally & globally!

Resolutions are a wonderful spark to ignite your untapped potential. Birthing new Goals and Dreams into a new year is a wonderful practice.

Be sure to make room in your life for the new habits and disciplines your new Goals will require. Schedule the time into your day to day life for achieving your new Goals and go for it with all of your might.

    Live Your Dreams,

    Jill

I hope to get up every morning and Live Strong…to celebrate that I am awake, alive, and borrowing more time with family and friends in spite of cancer. To grow the LiveStrong Army and to ensure access and awareness for colorectal cancer screening with C3, and to help all those with metastatic cancer to discover treatment options and support systems. I plan to advocate advocate advocate!!

My new year’s wish is to finally hear the doctors tell my husband he is cured of cancer. He has had all of his chemotherapy treatments and is currently awaiting surgery arrangements.

Headed out at 6am this morning for a New Years Day 60km ride then took my daughter to the beach. We played under the sprinkler this after……couldn’t have started off 2009 any better.

Happy New Year from Perth Australia

I’m so thrilled the LIVESTRONG Challenge comes to Seattle in 2009! After travelling to Austin & Portland, I’m resolved to help ensure this event is a success and inspiration as these previous ones have been to me. Thank you!
