Doug Thanks LIVESTRONG Summit Delegates and Volunteers

Doug wanted to send a quick thank you to all that participated in the 2008 LIVESTRONG Summit. I am working on the last batch of photos that will be shared later today. Hopefully everyone was able to travel safely home. We are happy to be back in Austin and getting back to work.

    Thank you Doug! The entire LAF staff were, as always, ALL-STARS! Tara, Brenda, Hailey, Missy and the countless others were outstanding!

    I also wanted to say my thoughts and prayers are with Tara and her family!

    The Summit was incredible!! This was my first Summit and I must say that I was astounded at the amount of knowledge I gained. Also,the keynote speakers, town hall and final day panel were all incredible as well. I thought I was motivated before to fight cancer, but now I have learned how to put my motivation into action! Thanks again.

    Thanks to the staff for providing us inspirational, motivational and professional speakers at the Summit.They gave us the tools to go back to our communities and start a war on cancer! There is a group of us from Fresno, CA that intend to start our LiveStrong Army here in our community as soon as possible and feel we have the knowledge and motivation that it will take to do it.We were very impressed with the the way the summit was organized and conducted. I came away with empathy and respect for the people currently fighting cancer, their caregivers and the survivors. My son lost his battle with cancer at age 27 last year and I want to fight this battle in his memory.

Hailey and Bailey were incredible to work with and the level of professionalism displayed by all of the LAF staff was unrivaled.     It was simply amazing – and the volunteers were incredible. The bus drivers were answering some pretty detailed questions about the summit process – they were knowledgable and you could tell they paid attention… every volunteer was wonderful and should be commended. This truly was a wide group effort and I am so greatful for the experience. Tara – our thoughts are with you!

    What an amazing event! It has put a spin on my life that I wasn’t expecting…..thank you, thank you, a million times, thank you to the volunteers & staff. Ya’ll were the most professional, uplifting & inspirational people I have ever had the pleasure to know – you have absolutely provided us with the tools neccessary to “pay it forward”. And believe me, WE WILL – LIVESTRONG !

    I was really inspired by all of the passion that this event held. In all of my hours of volunteering, I have never felt more fulfilled than this past weekend. I really enjoyed working with the staff and even in down times, I was having fun. I will hopefully be able to volunteer or (when I’m out of college, etc.) maybe work with a fine crew such as yourselves again. I met so many wonderful people and really was able to change a regular old weekend into an engaging, mind-challenging and simply amazing weekend. Thank you again for having your Summit here in Columbus. =]

    The Summit was amazingly fun to work for. All of the delegates were so cheerful and the staff had everything planned out really smoothly. I was sad to see LIVEStrong leave campus, because volunteering this weekend was a blast! I’m an avid volunteer, and this was by far the most positive volunteer experience I have ever had.

    I wanted to give you my great thanks for another life changing event. The staff Brenden, Katherine, Sarah and all of the others too many to mention were fantastic. I cherish the contacts, great speakers and lives changed. We will carry on and make a great change. Hope to see you in Iowa next year at RAGBRAI!

    Many thanks to you Doug, the LAF staff and all the volunteers who made the Summit an amazing success. I can’t imagine the long hours that were required to make this event turn out so flawlessly. I can personally say that I am incredibly motivated now to join this war against cancer by launching a local LIVESTRONG Army.

    Hey Bailey,

    I know your inbox is overflowing with e-mails in the aftermath of the Summit, but I wanted to add just one more to the heap to personally thank you, and the rest of the LAF staff, for allowing me to be a part of such an amazing event. It wasn’t until this morning, while walking past Mershon, with it no longer being adorned with LIVESTRONG yellow and sans the huge white tent, that I realized what an impact the summit has had on on the buckeye community as a whole. The crowds around campus , normally a two toned scarlet and grey, are now dotted with LIVESTRONG yellow; and as we yellow dots pass each other, proudly displaying our summit shirts, we share a smile, but more importantly are filled with a sense of pride and humility, having been in the presence of greatness. Although LAF only spent a few days in Columbus, the mark it left on the community is indelible and I want to thank you and your staff for all the months of planning and the love that you all poured into the event. I hope that you are all catching up on sleep and are enjoying the accolades that you are undoubtedly and deservedly receiving, and look forward to seeing you at future LAF events.

    I can not even find the words to express how amazing the Summit was. Even this morning, as I sit here watching the videos of the Summit week-end it’s almost surreal. It’s hard to believe that I was part of such an amazing event! From beginning to end the Summit was an event that was unrivaled in it’s attention to detail and it’s purpose and planning. The hotels, meals, buses, venues and speakers were all first class and every little thing was handled so that all we had to do was focus on gaining knowledge to fight this war on cancer. Never have I seen a group of people work so flawlessly to make an event like this happen. You deserve a standing ovation and a huge pat on the back.
    The Summit is going to start a revolution and I already see the effects that it has had inspiring and empowering those who attended to go out and make cancer a national priority.
    Thank-you, Thank-you, THANK-YOU to everyone involved for making this event a reality and for continually raising the bar.
