On Monday, the LAF launched an exciting campaign to increase awareness of the LAF and our support services within the Hispanic/Latino population.
This multi-faceted includes:
- Creation of www.livestrong.org/espanol – This Spanish-language website is intended to provide educational information, materials and support services to those who have been affected by cancer within the Hispanic/Latino population. We invite you to check out the Spanish site and encourage Spanish-speaking survivors or healthcare professionals to use this site as a resource.
- Production of 8 sixty-second radio advertisements, These radio ads include information about the most common concerns that Hispanic/Latino cancer face after completing treatment and encourage listeners to visit the website and contact LIVESTRONG SurvivorCare. On June 2nd, these ads began airing on Spanish-language radio stations across the country and will run for three weeks.
- Production of 5 one-hour call-in shows, These call-in shows will air on Spanish radio stations and provide an opportunity for listeners to call-in and ask questions about cancer and cancer survivorship to a group of healthcare providers and survivors.
The call-in shows will air in the following cities:
Los Angeles: Saturday, June 21st from 4 – 5 on KTNQ-AM
San Antonio: Sunday, June 15th from 12:30 -1:30 pm CST on KCOR-AM
Chicago: Sunday, June 15th from 1 – 2 pm CST on WRTO-AM
New York City: Monday, June 16th from 10 – 11 am EST on WADO-AM
Miami: Tuesday, June 17th from 5 -6 pm EST on WQBA-AM
If you speak Spanish or know someone who does, we encourage you to listen to the shows and Spanish-radio station(s) in your town and to check out www.livestrong.org/espanol. Following the airing of the shows and radio ads, we will put the archived versions on the Spanish website for viewers to listen to when they access the site.
Through this campaign, we hope we will help Spanish-speaking cancer survivors find support through LIVESTRONG SurvivorCare and online educational content.
