Wow! I am in lowcountry South Carolina in the town of Beaufort. Karen Patterson, the event organizer and local army leader, organized a true grassroots event this evening at the local high school. There is a true sense of community here, and they all turned out in support of LIVESTRONG Day. The local classic car club arrived in style with some pretty cool hot rods, and The Lady’s Island- St. Helena Fire Department had three of their fire trucks on display.
The event, Tonight We Unite, could not have captured the meaning of LIVESTRONG Day any better. As LIVESTRONG Day comes to an end I am reminded of the reason that we continue to unite people in the fight against cancer. Today, stories of triumph and stories of heartbreak were shared as amazing advocates put their blood, sweat, and tears into making a difference in the lives of others. We need to continue to think nationally and act locally to get the attention that cancer deserves.
Karen- I could not have enjoyed your event and my lowcountry experience any more. You did a great job. Thank you!
Thank you to everyone that participated in LIVESTRONG Day, and the difference you are making!
Kathryn
