After a long and very satisfying day of events in Denver it was time for the real reason we’d come out to Colorado. Long-time LAF supporters Michael and Patricia Birdsong had arranged to have a special dinner at Sobo, a new restaurant in south Boulder. The owner, Stephan, was there to greet us and made sure that we were all very comfortable and well taken care of.
Joining us on this perfect way to end LIVESTRONG Day was none other than Davis Phinney, the winningest cyclist in American racing and a true champion in his personal battle with Parksinson’s Disease. Davis leads his own Foundation in the fight against this disease and had recently undergone a brain surgery procedure that had removed almost all of the tremors that plague the people afflicted with PD, amazing what research can do, and living proof on the importance of funding this vital work!
The night’s conversation spanned the gamut from cycling stories to the work the LAF does in the fight against cancer. It was the perfect end to a great LIVESTRONG Day 2008, and as we head home to Austin tomorrow I can’t wait to hear the stories from my colleagues about their adventures across the country, LIVESTRONG!
