LIVESTRONG at School Contest Winners

LIVESTRONG at School Contest

Thank you to everyone who participated in the LIVESTRONG at School contest! The contest winners have been officially announced at and are listed below. We have been absolutely astounded over the past couple of months as entries for the LIVESTRONG at School contest have been turned in to the LAF. We received almost 200 entries from classes who submitted books, videos, drawings and songs. Everyone who participated demonstrated hard work and an understanding of what LIVESTRONG means to them while having fun at the same time.

We truly appreciate the work that students, teachers, librarians, parents, friends, and others put into this contest and into learning about cancer and cancer survivorship. Your ideas for finding ways to get involved in the fight against cancer were unique and important. We’ve heard from school teachers across the country that these lessons have provided their students with an opportunity to better understand cancer, to find ways to give back to their loved ones and their communities, and to have an opportunity to discuss cancer which has impacted so many of their lives. We are inspired by your work!

We hope that this involvement in this contest will be an exciting beginning for schools who participated in the contest and for other school across the country to get involved in teaching the LIVESTRONG at School lessons. The LIVESTRONG at School lessons truly provide an opportunity for children at all grade levels to learn about cancer and to get involved in the fight against cancer, whether that be by writing letters to a loved one or by identifying issues in a state cancer plan that should be addressed.

  1. Congratulations to the winners! My class really enjoyed learning these lessons. They will forever remember the video we made. We had a lot of fun doing this. Thanks for sending out the idea and the lessons.

I saw my surgeon today and gave him a heck of a time for not wearing yellow. HAHA LIVESTRONG!

  2. Chris P. says:

Thanks so much for your work and support on this. My daughter is in Mrs. Thomas’ Oak Hill elementary class. The class got so much out of their entry, and supporting and celebrating their classmate, Andres, as he shared his story. I can’t give enough praise the teachers and educators and to you guys for conveying the LiveSTRONG message so early and so well, and especially Mrs. Thomas who has worked so hard in leading the class on this and other projects during the year.

Her class is really looking forward to Mr. Armstrong’s visit.
