Hi everyone. I am Tara Williams, the Summit Outreach Coordinator for the LAF. I wanted to let you all know that 2008 LIVESTRONG Summit Application is now open and we want you to apply to attend!

Some of you may be familiar with the 2006 Inaugural Summit. I had the privilege of helping with the event. It was truly inspiring and unforgettable. For those of you that aren’t familiar, the Inaugural LIVESTRONG Summit took place in 2006 in Austin, TX. 600 Delegates from across the US and Canada came together to be inspired and empowered. Throughout the weekend, delegates were motivated by many notable speakers and one another. They worked together to indentify the unmet needs of cancer survivors and to brainstorm possible solutions to those challenges. Delegates individually developed goals and personal action plans to effect change in their own communities around the identified needs. Since the event, delegates have been diligently working on their personal action plans and doing a lot of good for survivors everywhere. Way to go delegates!

This year, we have kicked it up a notch. Not only will the event will take place in Columbus, OH, July 24-27 on the OSU campus, but we will accept 1000 delegates to attend! The 2008 LIVESTRONG Summit will focus on our goal of making cancer a national priority. We will train the delegates in the areas of Grassroots & Advocacy, Grassroots & Elections and Grassroots & Fundraising. Each delegate will choose a track they want to follow for the duration of the Summit. Along with training, delegates will again be inspired by outstanding speakers and other delegates. And, once again, we hope delegates will leave charged to affect change in their communities as well as help make cancer a national priority.
