Check out this story, a sad one, but the perspective on LIVESTRONG is a great one.

The article below highlights both the personal story and professional work of Nancy Davenport-Ennis. She serves on the National Cancer Institute Director’s Consumer Liaison Group with me and The Patient Advocate Foundation is a national partner of the LAF. Congratulations to Nancy on her survivorship and her wonderful work.

  1. Scott Joy says:

When I read the article about Holly Young, I had a sudden jolt of recognition. I never met Holly, but I heard about her battle with Ewing’s sarcoma in May 2006 from a friend and member of her family who sponsors my Challenge rides. One of those “unexpected connections.”

I didn’t know Holly had attended the LIVESTRONG Summit. I didn’t know she had been through 26 rounds of chemotherapy. I didn’t know her battle had ended. I didn’t know.

It’s at moments like these, when I feel most helpless, that I do know I have to help fight cancer every day.

  2. Kathy Smith says:

Holly was an amazing young women and I will miss her. She was the picture of strength and I am not just saying that because she was a fellow UNH wildcat….. We will keep Fighing Holly… I promise….. Be thou at Peace….

  3. Dee says:

I spent 3 wonderful days at the Summit at table 75 with Holly. She truly was an amazing, articulate young woman who was working hard to make a difference for others with cancer. She will be missed.

  4. Brian Dowd says:

Thank you for posting this Doug! Holly Young was one of the main inspirations I came back from the Summit and put so much time and effort into fighting cancer.

After the first day of the Summit i remember calling my wife and telling her about Holly and her battle with Ewing’s Sarcoma. Her was a young woman facing the biggest fight of her life when she should be enjoying her time in college.

I will always remember her and the way she handled the herself during her fight against cancer.
