The word that pops into my head today is wow. 11 years ago I was diagnosed with cancer. At that time I was given a 50/50 chance of living or dying. I was focused on what tomorrow would bring and never could have dreamed of where I would be today.
I am one of the lucky ones. I am a cancer survivor. Unfortunately, way to many people continue to die from this disease. You know the stats – 1.3 million Americans diagnosed and 560,000 Americans will die from cancer this year alone. On top of that we are losing funding at the national level.
That is why I am so excited about Texas Prop 15. For those of you who do not know about Prop 15 – it is a proposition on the ballot in Texas on November 6, that if passed would authorizes $3 billion in bonds over the next decade to fund programs that will help prevent more deaths, encourage medical innovation and grow our economy of Texas in a fiscally responsible way.
In celebration of my cancer anniversary I am dedicating the next month to passing this proposition. I will be touring around the state and working with my foundation and other groups to assure that Texas takes this important leadership role in fighting cancer.
I encourage you to learn more about prop 15 and to help me celebrating my cancer anniversary by joining me in this fight.
